Shreveport Personal Training Studio
My personal training studio design and my overall approach to exercise are based on over 20 years of experience in the health and fitness arena. I promote a "low-tech/high-effect" training
system based upon the intelligent and safe use of barbells, dumbbells,
heavy duty elastic tubing and various body weight exercises such as
pull-ups, push-ups, etc.. All exercises are scaled and tailored to each client's unique
strengths and weaknesses.
I promote free weights as the core of a good training program because they deliver superior overall results when compared to weight training machines. The only "machine" I utilize is a multi-angle sled which allows clients to perform various body weight exercises, such as pull-ups and shoulder presses.
Depending on your current level of fitness, I'll start you out gradually, then ramp it up very systematically and progressively over time. Each week, I will be looking for you to do just a bit more than you did the previous week. I will push you hard, but will always train you within your own personal limits.
I do NOT train my clients like bodybuilders as I find most people are not interested in developing a grotesquely huge mountain of muscle. My approach is to sculpt your physique to be lean, capable and strong like a well conditioned athlete. We create this look with a combination of proper exercise and diet.
Beyond mere cosmetic concerns, my goal is to get you into the best shape of your life. I encourage all clients to maintain a good balance of both strength and endurance. I also focus on exercises which train you to use your body's muscles in a coordinated manner, in sync with each other, rather than training your muscles in isolation as is common with the standard "bodybuilding workouts". This approach develops an overall "whole body integrity" which will make you a force to be reckoned with, and will also make you less prone to injury or low back pain.
All client training sessions are conducted in the privacy and comfort of my private training studio. I have rigid standards for controlling the training environment my clients are exposed to. I keep the temperature and humidity low and air circulating with a high power fan. My clients appreciate being comfortable during their work-outs and free from excess perspiration. The studio is kept impeccably clean and all equipment is sanitized daily.
Most of my clients train with me twice per week, which for most people is the ideal training frequency. Training hard more often simply does not give the muscles enough time to repair and rebuild. Although I do encourage my clients to take brisk walks on their "off" days, when it comes to the hard workouts, my decades of experience have repeatedly shown twice a week delivers the best results.
